The famous and successful label dubbed Top Dawg Entertainment recently signed the upcoming artist named Doechii. I was so excited when I saw her announce this to Instagram. She joins the ranks of Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, SZA and more. I was so stoked to see the label add another woman to their groovy and funky label. She does have a very creative, outspoken vibe to her so I was also a bit surprised. Doechii stands out from the rest of the other artists, seeming laid back, chill out kind of people. Their new artist is anything but chill. Her previous releases include song titles like "Spookie Coochie" and "Yucky Blucky Fruitcake" and are about as strange as they sound. What's sick though is that these songs are absolute bangers. They are whole bops that prove her raw talent. I love it and am so excited for where she is going next with TDE. Yucky Blucky Fruitcake
Spookie Coochie *forewarning* this is a very sexual song if the title does not give it away*
These songs demonstrate to us as listeners this woman has IDEAS. This person is a CREATIVE. She has a VISION. That is real, genuine, and something that makes artists so special with their fanbase. I love Doechii's unique flair. I like her dark feminine energy she brings in her songs even when she flips up the vibe. It's expressive and honestly, I just love seeing people express themselves and execute a creative vision. Like YES - bring me into your weird little world of creepy ideas and fruitcake. I'll be glad I can leave after the song is over though. Persuasive This was her first video & snog out after signing with her new label TDE! I was really excited to see clips of the video coming across my social media feeds. Her scenes are so striking, from the black and white blindfolded outfit to the framed dancer. I love the vogue dancing here because it feels like a celebration of self, especially getting toward the end of the song. I enjoyed it and I just KNOW she's coming HARD. DOECHII IS BRINGING HER ALL. I'm excited. Shoutout Doechii and her creativity. She is giving Chaotic Queen of the Organized Orchestra with Unhinged vibes. This is what we needed. She is really in a category of her own right now. She can yell into a mic, she can bring the sexy, she has bars, she has vision, she has the personality LIKE SHE JUST NEEDED THE RIGHT PEOPLE AROUND HER TO MAKE IT ALL HAPPEN and now I'm so stoked she has that opportunity with TDE. I hope they support her well and uplift Ms. Doechii to the levels she deserves. Also, big up to another LGBTQ icon in the making, as she speaks about her bisexuality and makes mention in Yucky Blucky Fruitcake. Take a listen again if you missed it!
Hope you enjoyed this little artist highlight!! Thanks for hanging out. Let me know what you think of Doechii and her trajectory on Instagram. O K A Y B Y E

This March really put me through the paces of finding good music and keeping it fresh. I leaned in to the kind of music I would imagine vogue dancing to. I don't know a ton about how to vogue, but I've watched enough to feel the rhythm of a song. It is very upbeat, dancey, electronic and fun sounding. If a model had to walk down a runway to a song, it would be to the rhythm of a song you can vogue to. Additionally, Mariah the Scientist and Orville Peck - two of my favorite artists - released new music. I am so thankful for their craft and what they share with us. These two convey their feelings in such a poetic and somber way, it's striking. Their words are so bold yet their delivery remains soft. The introspection keeps me around as a major fan. This month, I tried using oil pastels to color the songs I imagine them sounding to me. Synesthesia is when you can experience a sense as another sense like seeing sound as a color. I aimed for drawing the playlist in a synesthesia sense. Please enjoy!! Hopefully there is something new to listen to here. All of This - Sandame Remix Pt2 - Jorja SmithThis song really had my by the neck for weeks and TBH it still does. It's exactly perfect as it has this dark undertone. The way it sounds, the song seems like it should be more upbeat. The lyrics combined with the production smack you around in a tornado of emotional torment. Unsure whether to cry or dance. You're welcome.
HMU For A Good Time - Tinashe, Channel TresThis is another song I feel like sounds vogue-ish!! It's like house music (which is a type of electronic dance music) but it just has a different flavor. I hope to continue to learn more about electronic music in the future as it pertains to the gay communities. I find myself drawn to voguing for the intensity and dancability. In this song, I get the feeling of both Voguing and Cyberpop/Hyperpop. Let me know what you think!! Heavy metal with me like Slipknot
Billi - Earthgang, Future I hadn't seen the music video before making this post but it is magnificent. It looks like they posted half of the song, as the video ends with "to be continued..." I love this song because of how powerful it is. Really, the entire album is gorgeous with wonderful beats to dance to paired with bars that will knock your socks off. I've been playing it on repeat, but specially this song. Big love. This half music video (on the right) is amazing and I wanted to see more!! I LOVE SEEING BLACK PEOPLE TAKE THEIR STOLEN HERITAGE OUT OF WHITE PEOPLE MUSEUMS. A must watch video.
Spread Thin - Mariah the Scientist The lyrics Ms. Mariah gave us truly stopped me in my tracks on my first listen. She had me frozen in my seat - then flip the switch two seconds later, screaming on my feet. You can see my initial reaction here on my YouTube channel. I really am such a fan. I feel so SEEN by her music. It's sad girl music with elegance, striving for better. Somehow, her voice and lyrics tell the story of someone who feels their sadness but is trying their best not to wallow in it. That's my hangup with a lot of popular singers who sing sad girl music. It feels stagnant and self-centered. Mariah's music feels growth oriented to me, and I will stan until my last breath. Now I must spend all my time
Thank for taking the time today!! I hope you found something new and interesting to listen to. Please feel free to check out my YouTube channel I started in the beginning of the year. Lots of love, have great day!!
